Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater Presented by Adrienne Arsht Center

The groundbreaking company returns with new and classic works, including founder Alvin Ailey’s masterpiece Revelations, the “Ailey gift that somehow keeps on giving” (The New York Times).

Celebrating its 65th anniversary season, the company will perform three shows in the Ziff Ballet Opera House. These will include new works commissioned specifically for Ailey: Amy Hall Garner’s rousing, high-spirited tribute to her grandfather, CENTURY; Elizabeth Roxas-Dobrish’s dreamlike reminiscence of romance, Me, Myself and You; new productions of Ronald K. Brown’s Dancing Spirit, Jamar Roberts’ Ode and Solo by Hans van Manen; and, as always, Alvin Ailey’s timeless triumph Revelations, which has been moving audiences for decades with its powerful storytelling and soul-stirring music.

Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater never fails to remind us of the power of dance to bring people together. With their trademark brilliance and passionate energy, these dancers bring the audiences to their feet at every performance.

Before the Friday night performance on February 2, we will celebrate the extraordinary legacy of Alvin Ailey and the African American cultural experience through a pre-show activation on the plaza in partnership with BOMA (Black Owned Media Alliance). Beginning at 6:00 p.m., Step Into Dance – A Tribute to Black History Month will feature a Revelations workshop where the community can learn choreography from the masterpiece followed by performances from the Florida Memorial University marching band, drumline, dance and step teams.

Admission to the pre-show activation is free with a ticket to that evening's performance.
