Jazz at Wolfson Presents is a monthly concert series featuring internationally recognized jazz artists performing with the MDC Wolfson jazz faculty. Concerts are free and open to the public.
Jazz at Wolfson Presents remains the longest continuously running free jazz series in Miami-Dade County. The series, which in addition to performances, includes workshops with guest artists, was founded in 1998 by former jazz studies professor, Dr. Michael Di Liddo who drew inspiration from Miami Dade College’s Lunchtime Lively Arts concerts of the 1970s.
Since its inception, the series has hosted an array of outstanding artists, including bassist and Jazz Humanitarian Award winner Rufus Reid, National Endowment for the Arts Jazz Master saxophonist James Moody and Blue Note recording artist Walter Smith III. Di Liddo retired after the 25th season, handing the reins over to Mark Small, the director of Miami Dade College’s jazz studies program.
