
Love Is A Verb by Inez Barlatier (Miami)
Love Is A Verb is a children’s concert with songs about receiving and giving love, written and performed by Inez Barlatier as Tati Nuzi & Friends, and commissioned by Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts. Tati Nuzi’s family is from Ayiti (Haiti), and they taught her to use music as a universal language to connect with people from all over the world. Her trio, featuring guitar, piano, and drums, invites audiences to sing, dance, and share loving energy together.
Inez Barlatier is an Ayisyen-American singer, songwriter, musician, and actor with over two decades of performance history. Her children’s show AYITI: Stories & Songs from Haiti has educated more than 100,000 children and families across the Americas through interactive singing, drumming, dancing, and storytelling. Her work has been featured on CBS 4, NBC 6, PBS, NPR, and WLRN, among others. In 2024, the mayor of North Miami proclaimed May 31st as Inez Barlatier Day.

Targeting students in grades 4 through 12, Con Alma y Fuego is an infectiously grooving live production that traverses the origins and evolution of Afro-Caribbean and Latin jazz, highlighting the contributions of groundbreaking artists including Mario Bauza, Machito, Dizzy Gillespie, Tito Puente, Irakere, Eddie Palmieri, and Fort Apache, among others. With an approximate running time of 55 minutes, the performance creatively merges live narration with captivating live music by Metta Quintet and stunning video projections, tracing the degree to which the American experience and the sound of jazz have been enriched by the cultural heritages of Africa, Spain, Cuba, Puerto Rico, and the Dominican Republic.
