Cendrillon (Cinderella) Opera

BY JULES MASSENET The classic Cinderella story, beloved the world over, comes to life in this whimsical French romantic opera. Jules Massenet’s sumptuous music echoes the grand love themes of Wagner, with hints of Rossini’s vocal fireworks and Tchaikovsky’s mesmerizing ballet music. With text that invites the audience to “escape dark realities” and believe in the “fabulous,” audiences delight in Massenet’s dreamy musical setting of the timeless glass slipper fairytale. Performed in French with subtitles. The performance takes place in partnership with Faena Art at one of the highest-profile venues in Miami Beach, the breathtaking Faena Forum.

Albert Herring Opera

BY BENJAMIN BRITTEN An English comic chamber opera, Albert Herring is the “coming-of-age” story of a hapless antihero in a town full of colorful characters preparing for the town’s May Day festivities. An outcast with an overbearing mother, Herring is embarrassingly crowned the King of May but squanders his winnings after two rebellious young lovers spike his punch. Benjamin Britten paints a vivid musical picture in this adaptation of a story by French author Guy de Maupassant. Performed in English.
