CHI - Town Transit Authority - A tribute to the Music of Chicago Chi-Town Transit Authority (CTA) is an 8-piece Chicago tribute band founded in 2017 and based out of Atlanta, Ga dedicated to reproducing the “Chicago” concert experience. The key to their success has been knitting together a highly accomplished team of long-time musicians who truly love the music of Chicago. With this foundation, they then pay close attention to detail in recreating the best of Chicago’s songs from studio and live versions and then design a show that first captures the audience, then gets them involved and finally brings down the house. It's easy to do because the band is having as much fun as the audience is. The band certainly doesn't lack for large selection of instantly recognizable songs. They are able to choose from the steady stream of Chicago hits starting in the late ‘60s. This allows the band ample opportunity to spotlight each of the three main vocalists as well as showcase a tight horn section and beautifully arranged vocal harmonies. They have honed their craft by playing over 90 shows at casinos, festivals, performing arts theaters, music venues all around the Southeastern US. See a show and you will know why Beat Atlanta Magazine calls them “The best tribute band out there”.

This holiday show is a musical celebration inspired by the Christmas sing-alongs that Grammy Award winner Dan Zanes and jazz vocalist and music therapist Claudia Zanes experienced every year while growing up in New Hampshire. That was then, and the theme was Christmas. This is now, and the 21st century version of these legendary parties includes so much more than Christmas classics. The Holiday Sing Along songbook—printed and distributed to audience members—includes seasonal numbers from a variety of traditions, languages and locations. Songs from Puerto Rico, Korea, Wales, Tunisia, Haiti and Washington, D.C., are represented alongside reimagined versions of ones we all know and love, such as “Let It Snow,” “Silent Night” and “Deck the Halls.” Hanukkah, Korean New Year, Kwanzaa and the winter solstice are also celebrated. For this show, Smithsonian Folkways recording artists Dan + Claudia have taken their electric folk sound to a fresh place with jazz vocalist and recent Howard University graduate Tyree Austin alongside multi-instrumentalist and children’s music star Elena Moon Park. The result is an inviting blend of four voices with guitar, violin, trumpet, harmonica, flute, spoons, percussion and mandolin that artfully brings the intimate feeling of a living room to the stage. The quartet embody the festive, far-reaching spirit of the season and the legacy of intergenerational communal musicmaking. It’s in these songs that we can renew our connections to one another and imagine the best of life’s possibilities for the year ahead. The Holiday Sing Along is an ideal, sensory-friendly presentation. Admission to this performance is free. However, first-access passes are required. Please note: First-access passes expire 15 minutes prior to the performance. First-access passes must be obtained for every member of your party regardless of age. There is a limit of six passes per household. Guests will be let in on a first-come, first-served basis as seats become available.

Born in 1926, Miles Davis was among the greatest innovators in jazz. This centennial concert celebrates his unparalleled musical legacy, which includes the albums Sketches of Spain, Tutu, Birth of the Cool and Kind of Blue. Trumpeter Ambrose Akinmusire and saxophonist Ravi Coltrane, both Grammy Award nominees, will pay tribute to the magical pairing of Miles Davis and John Coltrane, alongside vocalist Veronica Swift and the Frost School of Music’s Henry Mancini Institute Orchestra.

In celebration of the 25th anniversary of 69 Love Songs, The Magnetic Fields will perform the album in its entirety over two nights. Originally released in 1999 on Merge Records, 69 Love Songs is a beloved, three-disc masterwork that marked a significant breakthrough for the American band. Written and recorded entirely by Stephin Merritt, 69 Love Songs garnered universal acclaim upon its release, landing on year-end best-of lists in Rolling Stone, The New York Times, SPIN, Los Angeles Times and The Washington Post. It received notable praise from Pitchfork, The Guardian, Stereogum and other outlets. The Magnetic Fields are the brainchild of songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Merritt, who also releases albums as the 6ths, the Gothic Archies and Future Bible Heroes. With The Magnetic Fields, he has written, produced and recorded 12 albums. He composed original music and lyrics for three music-theater pieces directed by Chen Shi-Zheng, and in 2008, mounted an off-Broadway stage musical of Coraline, for which he won an Obie Award. Merritt composed the score for Academy Award-nominated film Pieces of April and for independent film Eban and Charley. Merritt’s song “The Book of Love” was performed by Peter Gabriel and appears in the film Shall We Dance, as well as in numerous other films and TV shows. Merritt has composed incidental music for the HarperCollins’ audiobooks of A Series of Unfortunate Events and Coraline. The Magnetic Fields will perform 69 Love Songs as it was originally performed in the early 2000s: in full order over two nights, with one half of the triple-disc album performed each night. Featuring multiple singers, the band delivers signature orchestral-pop arrangements with cello, ukulele, guitars and keyboards.

He is one of Canada’s most acclaimed pianists, honored with the Ordre des arts et des lettres du Québec, the Prix Denise-Pelletier, and the Women’s Musical Club of Toronto’s Career Development Award. Richard-Hamelin has performed as soloist with major Canadian orchestras as well as the Warsaw Philharmonic, Sinfonia Varsovia, Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony, and Singapore Symphony. He has appeared at leading international festivals including La Roque d’Anthéron, the Prague Spring Festival, and Chopin and His Europe in Warsaw. A passionate chamber musician, he has collaborated with artists such as James Ehnes, Marc-André Hamelin, and the Dover Quartet. His discography includes twelve acclaimed albums on the Analekta label, featuring solo works by Chopin and concertos by Chopin and Mozart. His most recent release, ECHOS (2025), blends Chopin with Spanish works by Albéniz and Granados.

In February, the Chopin Foundation welcomes Angie Zhang, 6th Prize winner of the 2025 National Chopin Piano Competition and finalist in the 2025 American Pianists Awards. A sought-after soloist, chamber musician, and fortepianist, Zhang brings both historical insight and contemporary creativity to the CHOPIN for ALL stage. About Angie Zhang American pianist and fortepianist Angie Zhang is the 6th Prize winner of the 2025 National Chopin Piano Competition and a finalist in the 2025 American Pianists Awards. She has also been recognized at major competitions including the International Chopin Competition on Period Instruments, Honens, and was a three-time winner of the Juilliard Concerto Competition. Zhang has performed over 45 times as soloist with orchestras such as the Indianapolis Symphony, Juilliard Orchestra, Missouri Symphony, and the National Symphony Orchestra of the Dominican Republic, under conductors including Fabio Luisi, JoAnn Falletta, and Jeffrey Kahane. Equally active in solo, chamber, and historical performance, she has appeared at festivals including Bravo! Vail, Ravinia, La Jolla Music Society, and Music@Menlo. A graduate of The Juilliard School and the University of Michigan, she is known for her work in both modern and period instrument performance. Her recent two-disc Chopin recording on historical pianos was produced by the Polish National Institute of Frederic Chopin.
